How a Dominion Cues build comes together

A custom cue isn't built off a template — it's built off a conversation. Here's how a Dominion Cues commission moves from a first conversation to a cue in your hands.

1. 01

   Consultation

   We start with a conversation, not a form. We talk through how you shoot, what you've liked and disliked about cues you've played with, your budget, and the look you're after. From there we put together a design worksheet covering shaft, wrap, joint, weight, and balance so there's a clear spec to build against before anything is ordered.

2. 02

   Material Selection

   Once the spec is set, we source and hand-select the woods, inlay materials, and hardware for your build. You'll see and approve the actual pieces going into your cue — not a catalog photo — so there are no surprises when it hits the lathe.

3. 03

   Building & Turning

   This is where the cue takes shape. Shafts and forearms are turned to your exact taper and diameter, joints are cut and fitted, and any inlay work is set by hand. We check dimensions against your spec at every stage, not just at the end.

4. 04

   Finishing

   Stain, seal, and clear coats are applied and cured in stages so the finish is durable, not just glossy on day one. Wraps, ferrules, and tips are fitted last, once the finish has fully cured, so nothing shifts after the fact.

5. 05

   Quality Check & Delivery

   Before it ships, every cue is checked for straightness, weight, balance point, and finish against the original worksheet. Once it passes, we package it for shipping and you'll get tracking details and, from then on, order status you can follow from your account.
